This relatively simple pictorial silhouette has been very successful indeed. It is one of a series of 3 shots taken in rapid succession of the north bay at Scarborough. The camera was a Pentax ME Super with 70/210 Vivitar Series 1 zoom - reasonable quality gear. Exposure was automatic, hence the silhouette in the late afternoon sun. Technically there are no problems although the left hand edge was printed in a little. The composition is a pleasing curve, but what makes it successful ? I can`t really answer, but I believe it is simple and strong, with little to gripe at. Other than club success, this shot was one of the pictures chosen for a monochrome calendar - £250 - Won £50 in the monthly heat of a magazine competition, then won the overall yearly prize in that magazine, a Canon T90. The picture had also appeared in numerous magazines.
